WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD

Title: Member, Board of Directors, San Mateo Workforce Board
Responsible: Chairperson and Board of Directors
Mission Statement: To establish and oversee the implementation of policies which promote an integrated, innovative workforce development system.
Estimated Time Commitment: Minimum 25 hours per year*
Expectations:

Take a leadership role in forgoing a strong and vital partnership between business and the workforce development community, resulting in an entrepreneurial, market-driven, accountable and exceptional workforce investment system.

Contribute specific expertise from key industries, articulating evolving industry needs, critical to aligning our workforce with the jobs of the 21st Century.

Develop and approve policy for workforce initiatives in the San Mateo County service - delivery area.

Promote the Board and workforce initiatives at every opportunity, through collaboration and relationship-building with other businesses, organizations and groups.

Participate in Board meetings, including an annual retreat.

Qualifications:

Hold senior level management position in company.

Represent key industries that shape the San Mateo County economy.

Commitment to workforce development and the Workforce Board.

Ability to see the big picture, think bold and act strategically.

Ability to work well as a team player.

Term: Three years; maximum 12 years
Appointment: Board of Supervisors
*Board Meetings: 6 General Boards Meetings per year (est. 2 hours each Third Thursday of the selected month (odd months) 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
